JR Sendai Station

Sendai is the capital city of Miyagi prefecture, in the "Tohoku" region in Japan.  It is also one of the largest cities in Japan.  Tohoku region is the northeastern side of the main Island of Japan.

Sendai suffered a devastating Tsunami as a result of the Great Japan Earthquake in March 2011.  The tsunami devastated a large section of the coastline but spared the center of the city.  While the Sendai Airport was hit by the Tsunami (because it is closer to the coast) the Sendai Train Station is spared.

As you can see in the following video,  the Sendai city is trying to get back to normal with all it's vigor and vitality.

JR Sendai Eki is in the center of the city and is one of the large stations on JR East Railways.  Major Shinkansens (Bullet Trains) that travel in the Northeast (Tohoku) region all stop at Sendai.

The city is close to the main business center in Tokyo and it is easy for commuters to do day trips either business or pleasure to Sendai.

Around Sendai are two large shopping avenues (Aoba-dori and Ichibancho) are Sendai's version of Ginza shopping district in Tokyo.
