Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine is located on the famous Teramachi shopping street in downtown Kyoto city. The front side of this shrine is facing the famous Nishiki Market cris crossing the Teramachi shopping district. Nishiki Tenmangu shrine is a perfect example of a city shrine, located right in the middle of a shopping street. It is especially beautiful at night, when the shrine and it's surroundings are illuminated by lights and the place is lively with tourists and the shoppers.

Nishiki market is a famous food market in Kyoto city and is frequented and loved by the tourists and Japanese alike. The most famous of the food items in this market is the Japanese pickles called "Tsukemono". These pickles and it's creation methods have been handed down to generations of Japanese and have been used as a way to preserve vegetables to be eaten during non seasons. These pickles have been a staple of Japanese food for many years.
